The Petra Trek is always a popular choice for charity supporters. Its beautiful landscapes, rolling mountains and of course the main event – the lost city, ensures this trek is a popular choice year on year. Voted as one of the BBC’s top places to visit before you die Petra is a place like no other,
Last week supporters of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, including TV’s Sian LLoyd, returned from their epic adventure. The trek led participants through mountainous desert landscapes, the breathtaking lost city of Petra and traditional Bedouin sites before arriving at the Dead Sea. All 19 trekkers completed the challenge and had a fantastic time along the way!
Our local guides gave us a fascinating insight into ancient and modern Jordanian culture, and we were lucky to experience live Bedouin music around our campfires, while sitting under an incredible desert night sky.
A Cystic Fibrosis Trust trekker shares his experience:
What did you like most about the event?:
Meeting a great group of like minded people. Despite traveling alone, I made some great friends. Jordan is a beautiful country, and I felt privileged to have met and shared time with local Bedouin people.
What did you like least about the event?:
it had to end.
This was my first trek, and I was apprehensive as I was traveling alone. The trip was truly life changing. I’ve seen a beautiful country and it’s people and met some great new friends.
Trekking for charity is not just a personal challenge, it provides the opportunity to see places you’ve only dreamed of and to make life-long friends. The funds raised from a challenge also make a huge difference to your chosen cause – the Cystic Fibrosis Trust are on track to raise over £50,000 from the challenge!
Jordan will become part of your soul, it is heart breaking to leave the country and my newly made friends.
Here at Skyline and Doitforcharity we’d like to say a huge well done to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust Supporters who took on the challenge to do something brand new to raise funds for such a fantastic cause.
