With Mother’s day fast approaching it’s time to reflect on how great all those mums out there are! For the extra-adventurous among you a charity challenge is the perfect way to spend some quality time with your nearest and dearest. Our trips are for all – strangers, friends, work colleagues and of course families! Whether it be a fun run dressed as superheros, trekking the Sand Dunes of the Sahara or peddling across Europe there’s no better way to spend time with your loved ones than challenging yourselves and raising much-needed funds for charity in the process.
Booking an adventure with your mum is always an exciting prospect, a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something amazing together. In June last year Nikki and Linda -a very special mother/daughter combo- took to their bikes and peddled all the way from London to Amsterdam, to Brussels on our 3 cities Cycle ride. Linda’s story was so inspiring that Women&Home magazine featured her too!
Linda’s daughter had completed the London to Paris Cycle in July 2012 and after seeing her incredible achievement she dared to think of having her own adventure…..
I watched my daughter Nikki finish the London to Paris Bike Ride, I told the organisations co-founder I wished I’d done something similar when I was younger and she said it wasn’t too late.
The pair quickly booked onto the 3 cities cycle for 2013 and set about training and in June 2013 the two set off on the adventure of their lives!
At every hill Nikki would shout ‘You can do it Mum!’ Doing the cycle has given me my confidence back we raised £5,000 in total, and I’ve hung my certificate in the hall. Every time I walk past it, it reminds me that if you set your mind to something, you can do it, whatever your age and fitness.
A huge well done to Nikki and Linda, not only did they peddle across Europe but they also raised incredible funds for charity.
If you fancy booking your mum (or another family member!) in for an event then look no further, there truly is something for every adventurer – whatever their age or fitness level. The perfect Mother’s Day gift may just be booking your mum onto a fancy dress 5 or 10k that you can walk or run together, or what about trekking through another country somewhere out there in the big wide world…..
