HI HO, HI HO, IT’S OFF TO PARIS WE GO… ON OUR BIKES!
TAKING TO TWO WHEELS TO RAISE THOUSANDS FOR CHARITY (Again!)
Today saw the season launch of Skyline’s London to Paris cycles with 161 participants departing London’s Crystal Palace to tackle the 300 mile journey to France’s iconic Eiffel Tower.
With over 1,500 participants throughout the summer season, our flagship London to Paris event has continued to grow year-on-year since its initial launch in June 2005, raising in excess of £7.5 million for hundreds of UK charities.
With a massive 10 departures in 2014, the four day trip takes everyday cyclists on the journey of a lifetime, through the rolling hills of the south of England to the stunning, picturesque countryside of northern France.
London to Paris Trip Leader Sally Woodford said earlier today: “Participants will have to tackle one or two ‘undulations’ along the route and simply standing on two feet will start to feel obscure but our crew work hard throughout the journey to ensure every single person, regardless of their age, gender, ability or otherwise, makes it to that finish line. It’s a spectacular thing to see as the emotions build throughout the trip and the realisation of what everybody has achieved hits home on that final approach through Paris.”
Skyline and Do It For Charity co-founder Dominic Carolan added: “Skyline offers the opportunity for ordinary people to do something extraordinary in the name of charity. Taking on a challenge like London to Paris is no easy feat but with the right training and a lot of determination, anybody can achieve it. Over the years our challenges have raised in excess of £85 million for over 3,000 UK charities and that’s continuing to grow because of people’s dedication to do something meaningful for the causes close to their hearts.”
