On Sunday 15th May 2016 thousands donned their favourite Superhero costume and gathered in Regents Park for our Annual Superhero Run.
As the sun beamed down on the park and the Superheroes began to arrive, we kicked off with our Superhero Costume competition which was presented by Jemima Slade, (who was in Big Brother in 2013) and also took part in the run for Muscular Dystrophy. The children’s competition was first and all the little Superheroes gathered on stage and the crowd cheered for their favourite costume. We then had the adults competition and learned about all the amazing charities our Superheroes were running for.
Peter Duncan from Blue Peter appeared on stage and he was completing the run with his son for Midwives for Women. Other runners also shared their stories and it was fantastic to hear so many people raising vital funds for such inspiring charities.
Our little Superheroes had their own mini run which was 200 meters long and took place just before the main run. They all looked like true Superheroes as they ran round the route!
No Do it for Charity event would be complete without our energetic warm up to get the crowd going led by our personal trainer Sylvia. Everyone enjoyed a mix of music and dance moves which prepared the runners to unleash their super powers for the 5K or 10K route!
After completing the run, the Superheroes past the finish line and they all received a medal for their amazing achievement. With over 100 different charities being represented on the day and the chance for supporters and charities to meet one another, it truly was a great day for all to enjoy together!
It was a brilliant event and the fundraising efforts of all of the participants were incredible. Congratulations to everyone involved!
