Hello and Happy Christmas!
Whether you have been one of our brave skydivers and fallen through the clouds at 10,000 feet, taken on the 54 mile challenge and cycled your way from London to Brighton or conquered one of our iconic overseas challenges, 2016 has been a year to remember. Well done on your incredible fundraising efforts and fantastic achievements!
Let’s kick off with our most recent event of the year which was a truly spectacular day as we witnessed 3,000 Santas pull on their red suits and beards as they descended upon Victoria Park on Sunday 4th December 2016! With many festive touches such as carol singers, a little children’s 200m fun run and snow blowing in the air at the start line – it definitely got our Christmas period off to a great start.
We absolutely loved our fancy dress competition for adults and children and we even invited our dressed up four-legged friends to the stage too and judged their best costumes! Well done to all of the entrants and winners!
After a chance to chat to the fundraisers from their respective charities and enjoy some Christmas festivities, our runners took on the beautiful course and were greeted at the finish line with water, a medal and mince pie to congratulate them on their festive feat.
The next event in the diary for us in 2017 is our annual Superhero Run which will be in May in the picture-perfect setting of Regent’s Park. This year we witness 2,000 runners turn into Batman or Supergirl in a flash as they pulled on their superhero disguise! It was an incredible day and everyone really did embrace being a hero as they ran either 5K or 10K for their chosen charity. We can’t wait for this event, which is set to bigger and better in 2017!
We are counting down the days until our iconic London to Brighton Cycle Ride! We were blessed with incredible weather this year and the determination that each of our cyclists had shown as they pedalled their way in the sun from London to Brighton’s seafront was so inspiring. Our cyclists rode in procession through the finish line, which was adorned with charity flags and cheering spectators and they celebrated their success by the sea!
The next big challenge and the step up from our 54 mile London to Brighton challenge is our London to Paris cycle, we saw seven rides take place this year and nothing quite beats that feeling of entering Paris as you convoy your way to the foot of the Eiffel Tower – a moment you will treasure forever. We had a new edition this year with our Tour de France trip too, that weekend cyclists could relax and enjoy a day in Paris on the Sunday and witness Chris Froome cycle his way to victory! An absolutely amazing experience for any keen cyclist!
We have had some unforgettable overseas challenges this year too, our amazing trekkers have conquered the almighty Great Wall of China, explored the lost city of Petra and hiked through the snow in Iceland! We’ve gone through an incredible journey to Machu Picchu and made our way across the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert as well as experiencing awe-inspiring bespoke trips to the iconic Grand Canyon and the mesmerising Kerala – truly breathtaking locations!
The commitment our trekkers have to their training and fundraising is truly astounding and we love to see the friendships and memories made on these trips – they wouldn’t be the same without each and everyone one of you!
One of our fantastic events, which you can do all year round, is skydiving. This is such an unforgettable experience as you fall from the sky at 10,000 feet – there is no feeling like it! If you are thinking about doing one, our advice is…just do it!! It is an amazing way to see the world from a different angle and free fall through the clouds! If you have a jump booked with us in 2017 don’t forget to send in your stories, we would love to hear about your experience!
From everyone here at Skyline we would like to thank each and everyone of you for making these challenges what they are! Congratulations on your admirable fundraising efforts and achievements of 2016. We hope you enjoy your festive season and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year for more adventures.
Merry Christmas from everyone here at Skyline Do it for Charity 🙂
