Where? Iceland Why? With its striking mix of wild volcanic landscape dotted with steaming lava fields, icecaps, glaciers, waterfalls and geysers, the stunning Icelandic landscape is one you will never forget. People of all ages and from all walks of life take part in this enchanting trek – this is the ideal challenge for solo trekkers as you will make friendships and memories to last a lifetime! This is a tough challenge but is the perfect adventure for someone with a real love of walking and exploring new places. You will go back to nature as you pitch your own tents and tackle the elements of the unpredictable Icelandic weather. The name of the country – Iceland – may not be that appropriate: although 10% of Iceland is covered by glaciers, it has a surprisingly mild climate and countless geothermal hot-spots The rapidly changing weather has however given rise to the local saying; ‘If you don’t like the weather, wait fifteen minutes!’ It’s the kind of place where it’s not unusual to get rained on and sunburnt at the same time – some Icelandic people also believe that if the winter is hard and long then the summer will be good and warm.
Where? London/Brighton Why? Take on an iconic route in the London to Brighton Cycle – facing 54 miles on two wheels (or if you want to be creative, try it on a tandem!) You will cycle through idyllic English Countryside, putting your pedals to the test on Ditchling Beacon (which is no mean feat!) before gliding down to the Brighton seafront to cross the finish line and celebrate your success! This is the perfect challenge for solo riders looking to get in some extra miles, beginners tackling their first big challenge or a fun group day out which you can take on with your friends. This is a great one to motivate you into getting into cycling and trying a new hobby plus – you will get to take in some of beautiful scenery along the way!
Where? Ben Nevis Why? This challenge takes you into the heart of the beautiful Scottish Highlands where you will conquer the highest peak in Britain, set at 1,346m. This trek is a huge accomplishment and is perfect if you are training for a bigger event (or hoping to!) or for those new to trekking and hiking taking on their first challenge! You will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery and a great sense of achievement and join different people from all walks of life as they tackle this challenge! You summit the peak in just one day, so you don’t have to take too much time out of your busy schedule and it will definitely give you the challenge bug!
Where? Sahara Desert Why? Trekking the Sahara Desert will provide you with an unbelievable sense of achievement as you take in mesmerising landscapes and golden sand dunes before camping under the star-scattered sky! This is a challenging trek with a beautiful backdrop where you will make friends for life around the camp fire, enjoy delicious traditional Moroccan food and step out of your comfort zone. It’s a tough challenge – perfect for the intrepid explorer! Ample training will be required but it is easily within your capabilities if you are new to hiking – just make sure you break in those boots and do plenty of long walks before you go so that you feel confident on the dunes. The Sahara Desert is the world’s largest hot desert and is spread across 8.6 million square kilometers in Northern Africa. The average year round temperature in the Sahara exceeds 30°C with the temperatures rising above 50°C during summers and the winter temperatures falling below freezing point. November – March mornings / evenings cool approximately 15 degrees when you start walking up to 25-28 degrees in midday sun (3 – 30 degrees as an average).
Where? Great Wall of China Why? Who wouldn’t want to experience trekking along one of the Seven Wonders of the World?! This is an incredible experience and definitely one to tick off the Bucket List! This is the ideal challenge for those with a passion for history and a sense of adventure and will give you the opportunity to discover China’s hidden charms, astounding cultural past, traditions and mythology! You will witness the beautiful rural sections of the wall juxtaposed against the busy and bustling restored areas, as well as walking along farmer’s tracks and taking on Heavens Ladder (300 stairs to the top!) Beijing weather is characterised by its clear distinction of four seasons – short windy spring, long hot summer, cool pleasant autumn and long chilly winter.
Where? Kilimanjaro Why? Climbing to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro is the ULTIMATE Bucket List challenge! You will be trekking in one of the most beautiful parts of Africa and taking on a stunning climb reaching heights of over 5,500m. You will hike through a blend of diverse terrains, from lush jungle to volcanic craters towards the snow-capped peaks and the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak.This is an extreme challenge which requires a great deal of endurance and is not for the faint-hearted as you will experience extreme environments. This trek is tough, but the sense of achievement you will feel cannot be beaten! Due to Mount Kilimanjaro’s great height, the mountain creates its own weather. It is extremely variable and impossible to predict. The dry season begins in late June, with relatively warm temperatures during the day whilst trekking, and cold nights.
Where? London/Amsterdam Why? The London to Amsterdam Cycle will have you weaving through picturesque English countryside, across the channel, through northern France to beautiful Bruges and finishing in the vibrant city of Amsterdam – every cyclist’s dream destination! This is such an exciting and beautiful route and is the perfect challenge for any keen cyclist! If you have done the London to Paris ride then this is the ideal follow-up cycle. Whether you go this challenge alone or get a group involved, you will meet like-minded people along the way and ride with people of all abilities! It is a tough challenge but hugely rewarding and the scenery can’t be beaten!
Where? London/Paris Why? This exciting ride will take you from the heart of London through beautiful English villages and into the stunning countryside of rural France before you reach Paris and end your challenge under the Eiffel Tower! Whether you are an experienced rider looking to put in some mileage or a complete beginner on your first ever multi-day ride, you will find other cyclists your level, make friends for life and go on an incredible adventure which will stay with you forever. This is a truly iconic route and it is a tough challenge but that feeling of reaching the Eiffel Tower knowing you have covered an incredible 300 miles, well… it just can’t be beaten!
Where? Peru Why? This incredible trek will take you through the untouched Lares region of Peru, over high mountain passes with views of the snow-capped Andes, green valleys and tranquil mountain lakes. For those with a sense of adventure and a love of beautiful landscapes this is the perfect challenge for you. Peru is one of those destinations that pops up on everyone’s bucket list! And with good reason, it’s a truly spectacular place and a visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu is unforgettable (and a great way to end your challenge!) Peru’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere, so summer is from December to February and winter from July to September. Our treks run when the mountain highlands are in the dry season, with hot, dry days and cold, dry nights.
Where? Vietnam/Cambodia Why? This enchanting cycle will have you exploring the sights of cities, royal palaces, dazzling green paddy fields and temples as you make your way across two magical countries, taking in the wealth of experience each has to offer. From the bustling Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh to the serene Cambodian temple of Angkor Wat, this route is full of charm and the perfect challenge for any adventurer! Weather-wise, the climate in Vietnam is so diverse that there is almost no definition of an average temperature for the whole country, it’s very changeable! The average temperatures in the south range from 25 – 35 °C year round. In Cambodia average temperatures can be expected around 24 – 26 °C at the time of our challenge!
Where? All over the UK! Why? Skydiving is the ultimate thrill seeker’s challenge as you will enjoy the exhilarating and unforgettable feeling of flying through the clouds from over 10, 000ft at up to 120 mph! You will be strapped to a qualified BPA instructor who does all the work for you – leaving you to enjoy the thrill of the ride! Want to take the next step and jump solo? The Static Line or Accelerated Freefall course will get you one step closer to being a certified skydiver as you will get to complete an unaccompanied skydive – what an incredible experience! We have nineteen airfields across the UK so you can choose the one of your choice – plus, you can book all year round so you can pick your own jump date too! Your jump costs and training will be covered by your fundraising and your charity will receive a sizeable donation from your efforts, all you need to do is pledge to raise sponsorship for your chosen cause and hit your target before the jump – it’s as easy as that!
Where? London Why? Take part in a fantastic fun run in the capital and give yourself a great challenge to train for! A 5km or 10km route is available on the Santa and Superhero runs so you can set yourself your own goal and take the challenge at your own pace, whether you run, walk or jog – which makes these the perfect events for anyone new to running! We get lots of solo runners taking on the route to aim for a new personal best, train for a bigger run or just giving themselves a goal! These challenges also attract groups of friends, families and colleagues who want to try something new on the weekend.
