Over 2,000 superheroes descended upon Regent’s Park on Sunday 14th May to walk, jog, run or fly their way round our 5K or 10K route in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity! Our annual Do it for Charity Superhero Run saw charity fundraisers join forces for the greater good and every real-life superhero received a free costume on the day, turning into Batgirl or Superman in a Flash!
It really was quite the spectacle to behold as the sun shone down on a sea of thousands of Superheroes! We had our annual fancy dress competition for the best dressed hero for those who wished to get creative with their own costumes and it was amazing to see the effort our runners had put in to turning into their hero alter-egos. Our little heroes looked amazing, with the prize going to a young King Arthur and our youngest ever contestant baby Poppy, whilst the adult prize went to one brave man dressed as Wonder Woman – he completely wowed the crowd! Not forgetting the dog costume competition – we were completely won over by our four legged Batdog’s and Superpooches!
We then had our hugely popular free children’s mini fun run which was a 200m course that saw our little heroes flying round in their capes and masks! This was then followed up with our energetic warm-up which got the crowd ready and raring to go for their main run!
The day saw over 100 amazing UK charities being represented, a fantastic reminder of why our runners have pulled on their capes, with the main beneficiaries of the event being UK Sepsis Trust, Mind, Human Appeal International and Mercy Malaysia UK.
This year we also had two very special friends who joined us for the day – Batman and Spiderman. They were hanging out at our Photo Booth area where all of our heroes could grab a snap with them before they had to head back to Gotham City and New York. All of our runners were sharing their stories with us on social media by using our official hashtag RunHeroRun, along with our very own Superhero Themed GeoFilter for Snap Chat that they could share with friends.
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to our inspiring heroes and charities who made the day so memorable for us this year! If you missed Superman, Wonder Woman and friends this year, make sure you join us for the UK’s LARGEST Superhero Run next year!
Here’s what some of our incredible charities had to say:
