When you think of Transylvania the first thoughts you might conjure up may be of howling wolves, bats, creepy castles and bloodthirsty vampires, yet the largest region of Romania is a far cry from the world created by Bram Stoker.
This is a stunning location filled with ancient forests, valleys, secret shepherd paths and beautiful wildflower meadows. A visit to Transylvania truly does feel like a step back in time and this enchanting place is steeped in magic and mythology, and not just the spooky kind!
The landscape is abundant with stunning oak forests and pastures with breathtaking scenery as far as the eye can see. On our Trek Transylvania you will be taken through Bucegi Natural Park and Piatra Craiului National Park, passing some of the country’s richest pastoral areas, dotted with shepherd’s huts and wonderful views over two of the most spectacular massifs in the Southern Carpathians!
Throughout the challenge you will be rewarded with stunning views of the nearby Transylvania Alps and take on The King’s Rock, which is generally seen as one of the most beautiful mountains in Romania – what an experience!
No visit to Romania would be complete without a trip to Bran Castle, better known as ‘Dracula’s Castle’ as it’s thought to be the inspiration behind Bram Stoker’s Dracula. With over 630,000 visitors each year, this spectacular medieval building sits in The Carpathian Mountains which are home to some incredible wildlife including wolves, lynxes and over 5,000 brown bears! You may even be lucky enough to spot one of these beautiful creatures on your visit.
