On Sunday 13th May a thousand superheroes descended on Regent’s Park and pulled on their cape and mask to take part in the 5K or 10K running challenge. Thankfully, the weather was on our side as the sun shone down on our amazing superheroes – it was quite the spectacle!!
With all of our heroes having their own unique story to tell for taking part in this special running event, and over 100 charities represented on the day, it sure did add to the high spirits of all of our runners and their charities, making the atmosphere unbeatable. The main beneficiaries of the event were Mind, Pan Asian Women’s Society, Brompton Fountain, Blossom Trust and Sepsis Trust and having the presence of these charities along with many other incredible causes really did remind us of all the remarkable fundraising efforts our heroes are doing in their bid to fight for the cause close to their heart.
A few of our personal highlights were watching our little heroes whizz round the 200 metre fun run and the look of utter pride and achievement on their faces when they received their medals! Another highlight for us is our much talked about fancy dress competition – it was SUPER-tastic. Adults, children and our four-legged sidekicks all dressed to impress and we had a great time with the crowd choosing our winners.
Nothing can quite beat this shot from the stage…
Just before our heroes headed to the start line, we had a fun and energetic warm up to ensure they were all set for their challenge. It was an EXTRAORDINARY sight! Watching a thousand Superheroes warm up with lunges and star jumps to the sounds of ‘Nanananana…Batman’ was an unforgettable moment.
Our heroes set off full of energy and determination and this didn’t fade as we watched them all coming through the finish line with as much vitality as before. Our runners enjoyed celebrating their achievement by taking some snaps with friends and family and their well-deserved medals. Our Superheroes were also very eager to meet their fellow heroes Batman and Superman who made a very special appearance at the event and hung out in our very popular photo area for runners to take some photos!
We would like to thank all of our runners and charities who attended yesterday and made the event as special as it was – it wouldn’t have been the same without YOU!! We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you next year. 🙂
